Well, it is your kitchen, so what to cook is up to you. Yumbird is the mobile platform to create and sell home cooked dishes, and it is your responsibility to choose them wisely.
To stay competitive with restaurants and food delivery services, Yumbird offers its consumers the convenience of the same day orders. It is easy to publish fresh made food to be sold the same day.
But what if you want to sell custom made items like wedding cakes?
We are going to add special ordering feature to the second release of the Yumbird app, so meanwhile you will need to go two extra steps if you want to accept advance orders. I will describe them below, and here I just want to apologise for inconvenience! We are a startup, still in the process of building our platform, and we simply can’t add all the great features and other ideas we have to the first release. Simply because we have A LOT of them!
Food offering feature available now:
We can recommend two approaches to offer food on the platform.
You can either prepare your items in advance and offer them for a few days in a row, setting the daily time when they will be available for pickup or delivery. This approach is good for storable food items such as jams, cereals, cookies, dry fruit, herb mixes, etc.
Or, when cooking for yourself or family, you can simply cook more servings than you usually do, and offer the extras for sale (so in case something was not sold, you can consume it the next day or donate).
Custom order food items:
Now, if you’re planning to offer custom order items, we recommend you to publish the offers, stating in the description that they will need time (please specify how long) to be done, and asking the consumers to write you a message in the “Special instructions to the chef” field.
This way you will be able to accept the order, and notify the consumer when you start their order, and when it’s ready for the date and time they need. We promise to add an “order in advance” feature to the next release of the app, which we plan to complete by the end of 2015.
